The plant in Indaiatuba, Brazil, was the launching pad for Eldor’s expansion into Latin America.
Eldor Brazil currently employs about 230 people and partners with most car manufacturing companies operating in the Brazilian market.
Eldor chose Brazil as its entry point to the Latin American market.
In line with the company’ style and procedures, Eldor first studied the Latin American market and culture, so that, from the very start, work would proceed harmoniously and with passion, while respecting the demands of the high technology developed by the Group.
The first stage in this process was to set up a panel of suppliers.
Eldor started exporting Automotive components to Brazil.
After three years of exciting work and achieving impressive results, Eldor made the pivotal decision to open a facility in Brazil, thereby taking its first small step. Eldor’s quality control laboratory opened in Indaiatuba (São Paulo). The ultimate goal was to build a manufacturing plant, which was accomplished in 2013.
Eldor began mass producing ignition systems. The company’s proprietary automated production systems came into play in this phase.
As part of Eldor’s operations’ expansion in Brazil, a second building was opened in the city of Indaiatuba, which functions as the warehouse and shipping hub of finishing goods to Brazilian customers.
Eldor do Brasil encourages and helps its staff to develop personally and professionally, as well as engaging and motivating them, organising occasions for conviviality and meetings with and among its personnel.
These are central factors in a company, as they help to create the ideal climate for working with enthusiasm and discipline in view of achieving zero-defect production.
For this reason, every year Eldor do Brasil participates, as part of SESI (Serviço Social da Indústria, the Brazilian Industrial Social Services), in a sports competition involving various manufacturing companies and staff from Eldor’s Brazilian site.
Eldor also runs annually a “Safety and Environmental Week”, an important event with workshops, talks and games on safety and green topics.
Eldor promotes a bimonthly “Suggestion Program”, an initiative to acknowledge the best ideas and recognise the employees who have come up with most suggestions over the previous two-month period, by giving them a symbolic award.
The “Monthly Staff Meeting” was set up to share the most relevant information about performance indicators, market trends and organisational changes with Eldor’s staff, as well as listing the “Suggestion Program” acknowledgements. During these meetings, employees are updated on the main events held with customers (for examples, audits and project development) and on the “Key Program”, with the aim to recognize good behaviors according to Eldor´s values.
Every Monday, managers hold a “Leadership Meeting”, where all attendees talk about the programme for which they are responsible, previously defined with Eldor’s president. In this friendly setting, managers can speak up about their leadership difficulties and share any newly acquired knowledge.
The “Labour Gym” programme is another good habit-forming initiative to promote well-being among staff and reduce and/or prevent work-related illness. Twice a week our Brazilian colleagues exercise for a ten-minute session at their workplaces, to the benefit of their health and a more relaxing work ambience.
